"dianic" refers to the roman deity diana who was worshipped as a "triple goddess": the divine huntress, the moon goddess and the goddess of the nether world. this piece was fabricated from three elm trees that sprang from a common root. coincidently, in classical times, the elm tree had a strong association with the underworld as told in virgil’s aeneid, as well as with paradise as found in various works of pastoral poetry. the three different legs create oblique planes; a failing altar for the dianic deities of nature.
